I wonder now and then what they would say
If I showed them my thoughts and fears
Could they look past the violence and hate
Or would the cause of my silence be clear

When the plays in your head threaten to drown
There are those that will dive into the depths
Swim against a tide of pure emotion
Drag you to the safety with their final breath

The ones I have found and that see through the mask
Stay by my side regardless of what they see
Unmoved and unbowed by the face I hide
With them I have no choice but to be me

I have my solace in those chosen few
And for now that is all I need
So when you see a crooked smile in place
Think twice before you fail to take heed
