Cast off, shrugged from the shoulders
Crumples to the ground left where it falls
Freed of the weight unburdened of the load
Able to move forward and breathe once more
Too long was it carried, dragged like lead
Restraining movement, crushing will
A dark cloud hanging pushing down from above
Left to fester it became too much
Resolution to be found only in exile
Creeping forward with it left behind
No physical difference just altered thought
Shades become colours from darkness walked
Not quite at a sprint just a quickened pace
Landscapes drifted yet stayed the same
Moved but unchanged just a different view
What always was there standing beside you
