A battle between what you know and how you feel

Rages only in your head but in there it is real

Logical thought and the facts laid bare

Are seemingly unimportant to your vacant stare

Going over and over the time now gone

Trying to find a reason for what went wrong

Tearing yourself apart from the inside out

Is almost as useless as a muffled shout

The end game you know and have played before

Is just moving on no matter how sore

From all that you loved and once held dear

For it’s no longer there and that much is clear

Time is the cure for the symptoms and shock

But there is no way to cheat the hands of a clock

Each day in it’s turn live through them you must

Committing your faith to nothing but trust

That waking one day you are yourself at last

And smile again knowing this was only your past
