At first glance a single shadow is cast

As the lone man approaches and then walks past

Easily forgotten and quickly dismissed

Just another stranger gone with the mist

Nothing special not worth a second look

Gone from sight before the next breath you took

Then you remember the look on his face

Calm yet assured and certain of his place

Almost arrogant but yet not quite

A look that suggested that man had fight

You begin to wonder if he was really alone

Or surrounded by people in the streets of his home

A picture you build of a man and his friends

Walking together to their journey’s end

Laughing and joking as you they walk by

Maybe you were alone remember you try

As you turn to look for the man in the street

All you see is the empty road lying at your feet

At first glance a single shadow is cast

But did that man walk with all the people from his past
